Outdoor Movies 2016 – It’s that time of year again!
Outdoor movies are coming back to the D.C. metropolitan area this summer! There are several dates and locations these movies are being offered, so we thought we would share them with you so that you can enjoy them as much as we do.
After a long day at work, we love to spend the rest of the day outside, enjoying the sun and fresh air. Outdoor movies are a perfect way to do this! All you need is a picnic blanket, snacks, and a few close friends and family. Movies range from the new hits, recently graduated from the ever-expensive theaters, all the way to the oldies that make you reminisce on the good ol’ days. The best part about all of this is that it’s free! If you’ve never been to an outdoor movie in the area, this is your opportunity to go and call yourself a true DMV resident.
Movies, Venues and Showtimes – Oh My!
Now for the good part. Here is a list of all the showings, venues, and times in the area to look forward to during your weekday blues:
Capitol Riverfront: A beautiful location right near Navy Yard metro station, this screening shows mostly new films, dabbled with some classic oldies that are sure to make you nostalgic.
Time: movies begin at sunset (they recommend getting there at 7pm to get a good spot!)
Place: Canal Park, 200 M St SE

Golden Cinema Series: Perfectly situated between the Farragut North (red line) and Farragut West (orange line) stations in the Golden Triangle and a ten minute walk from our office, there is almost no reason to miss out on this. Head to one of the many restaurants in the area after work or schedule your long overdue dental cleaning and exam at our office and you’ll have just enough time to make it to the screening. Even better, the theme this year is “Hail to the Chief” in honor of this year’s upcoming presidential election!

Georgetown Sunset Cinemas: Only in its second year, this venue is perfect for those who want a great movie, sunset, and river backdrop (great for all you Instagram fanatics!). Slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Georgetown is perfect to just kick back and take in the view.
Time: 7:30pm (they recommend getting there earlier for a good spot!)
Place: Georgetown Waterfront Park

In addition, there will be family nights on July 10, July 15, and August 5th, with activities and stories for the kids prior to the film. Lastly, on June 10th, you can bring your pet to the movie screening! The theme this year is “Incredible Journeys”, so what’s not to love?
